| Sudden
Video is a compilation of five short works. The title of this series is informed by an anthologized literary genre that consists of short, dense and economic works: "Sudden Fiction". Inspired by this genre, I coined the phrase Sudden Video as an attempt to make short video works which express complex social, historical and emotional predicaments not easily digested nor intellectually reconciled with lingering affect. By using fictionalized narrative accounts with simple metaphoric images, this work consciously eschews familiar media images predictably associated with traumatic events witnessed either personally or mediated and presented publicly. The work passes quickly - a kind of hit-and-run approach. |
